Ewan is 5 Weeks old today. This seems impossible in some ways. However, he is showing all of the appropriate progress for this age. Over the last week he has definitely been tracking objects more with his eyes and engaging in eye contact more often and for longer durations. He's trying to grab things you put in front of him. He's responding to rattles as of two days ago. Mr. Pig, the wrist rattle, is now his changing table friend. We now consistently have smiles and fun while he's on the changing table, instead of screaming. Ewan and I are having play time everyday. We've moved beyond just playing the face game (in which he mimics my facial expressions), but now Mr. Pig is 'getting him' and he's being tickled with positive reactions.

Ewan is definitely growing. He fits into more his outfits now. He has sported chicken and Pooh feet this week. A lot of his clothes are still too big, even some of the NB sized clothes, but he's not swimming in them quite like he was. He will likely be having a growth spurt sometime around 6 weeks. I hope I can keep up with that. He's already eating every drop I can produce for him. I'm drinking more and more fluids to try and keep up.

I keep seeing all these really big babies and wondering when he might look like that. It makes me sad to think he won't be this way for very long. He's my little peanut right now- he's small and curls up on my chest. We've already passed a month and soon it will be a year. I'm trying to enjoy every second of him being small and wanting to be held.

I have gotten some flack from family members about not just putting him down more to let him sleep during the day, or putting him somewhere else to sleep overnight (which we do sometimes but he's not as cooperative that way, and it makes me feel like a bad mother). However, I think for him and I both, this is the time to hold him as much as possible, to bond and be comfortable with each other. He seems so much more content and interested when I carry him around and just do things than when he's left in one of his chairs with nothing to occupy him. I think I would be too.

I'm really looking forward to getting home and seeing him today.
