Okay, I guess I'd better chime in, here. First off, whatever, 'oh my goth clique pawns'. Second, how about a list:

1. You all suck. (Not really.)


2. All 'goth' music sucks. (Not really.)


3. You can all dish it out but you can't really take it. (Yup. Pretty much.)


4. I just wanted to poke at my wife a bit when she was being somewhat snotty at me. (Truth.)

I actually like a lot of her bleepy music and the Cure has grown on my like a dark, sad, whiney little fungus. I like them too, though I'm not sure it's good for me.

However, and here's the big point, can anybody explain to me how the Cure is not EMO? I don't think that being around before the stupid actually excludes you from said stupid... so somebody please educate me. I think you're all retarded to hold them up as such a perfect example of pure gothness (and retarted to seem to need an example of a label that you seem to need to slap on yourselves) while simultaniously shunning other forms of (admittedly not so good) whiney music with the bitter back-of-the-hand to the forehead swaying faint of impatience and mock greif.

Figure it out and then let me know. I'd really like to hear this one.

I think they're not Emo in the same way Grindcore isn't Death Metal - the music is different.
It's still whingey music for the most part, and the Goths don't like that their tendancies might overlap the Emos' tendencies :)

I totally misread this thread... and posted a stupid comment, which I deleted.

I would say no matter how hard you try to influence their taste eventually they will find their own. When they hit the teenage years everything you like they'll have to dislike. It's some kind of law I think. Luckily your taste is good so they'll eventually come around I suspect.
