So what's with this sudden FaceBook explosion anyway? What's so great about it? Why should I join?
I've gone to check it out but I must register in order to see anything and this generally puts me off.
So... those of you who are 'in' already: what's the scoop? Is this worth my time or would I be subjected to huge amounts of spam and pointless emails like I get from Myspace (which I utterly despise). Please educate me.

Date: 2007-06-07 09:39 pm (UTC)So far (and I'm willing to eat my whole collection of headgarments, should I be proved otherwise), I've found facebook to be well laid out, easy to load (with lovely Web 2.0 style layovers), full of people I'm interested in, and, possibly best of all, an excellent way of linking you in with all those people you knew from previous workplaces or schools, allowing you to look at their profile photo and chortle away at how chubby they've become over the years (or, at least, my old schoolfriends are, but that's because they all work for merchant banks now). I'm not terribly fond of anything which takes personal details, but I feel that they haven't used it (yet!) to spam me, I don't have adverts splashed in my face, and it's a pleasant thing to have a poke around in. Perhaps it's just a phase, and later on it will be knee deep in idiots spouting how "kewl th33r l33t haX0r skillz" are, or something, but, for now, it seems quite civilised. At least, at my end it is.
Chorttle.
Date: 2007-06-07 11:26 pm (UTC)Perhaps I'll give it a go, then. I like the idea of more ways to network- I just don't want to be bombarded with spacktards sending my messages and friend requests telling how they've discovered happiness working from home through this pyramid scheme or that, or about getting loads of free ring tones. It's utter shite, the Myspace. And I hate it. I hate it forever. I'm half tempted to delete my profile there actually.
Thanks for the info :)
