Topic of the Day: Is it a Boy or a Girl? Actually the real topic of the day is what if it's a boy... what to name the thing?!

Stephen likes Italian names. I like Scottish, Irish, sort of trad English names... and things that are a little different/less common/more unique than most of what we're coming up with and those being suggested.

We could use some suggestions from the more creative of you. We really like what [livejournal.com profile] deathboy and Liz chose to name their boy, Corben. Of course we would not use it, but we're happy to hear some other similar or even rejected names as a source of inspiration.

I like things like Ewan, Cullen, Aidan and other ridiculously long winded things. Stephen likes Italian names including Angelo, as well as Brian, Andrew (which I will accept as a middle name and is Stephen's middle name), and ... other things.

If it is a boy, it may look like this:

Thanks :)

what [livejournal.com profile] ruhiel and i did was sent an email back and forth adding and subtracting names (for both our children) until we were down to an even dozen and then we started a debating.

one of my primary criteria was to see how easy it would be to make fun of any name on the list. if i could do it in a few second, i knew it'd only take an 8 yr old a few minutes to do the same. they have enough to deal with growing up without parents making it easy for them to be picked on by giving them names that rhyme with various farm animals!

Ah, see I expect a great deal more out of any eight year old than I do myself!

Though, whenever we talk about names that's one of the things we do- other than making really silly names that flow interestingly. Although we could never use these names for fear of inviting a lifetime of ridicule for our poor little child, we do much better with them!

We actually bought a baby name book, found all the silliest things out of it we possibly could, found nothing truly useful, and ended up returning it the next day.
